Life in the SEC is very difficult. It is also very intimidating because nearly every week there is a team lining up opposite of Georgia that is capable of beating them.

This means Georgia doesn't really need to be warned about any one opponent in particulr, but that didn't stop CBS Sports from specifically warning Gunner Stockton about their upcoming matchup with Oklahoma this season.

“Don’t overlook this clash with Oklahoma. This will be the first time Georgia has faced Brent Venables since he took over the Sooners,”Cody Nagel said via cbssports.com.“Oklahoma’s defense will almost certainly have something up its sleeve for Gunner Stockton. On the other side, John Mateer is capable of giving Kirby Smart’s defense fits with his dual-threat ability, especially since this game is relatively early.”

CBS Sports warns Georgia about a potential nightmare matchup against Oklahoma

Oklahoma has been in the SEC for two years now, but Georgia is yet to play them. That however will change this year when the Bulldogs welcome the Sooners to Athens in week four of the season.

Georgia will more than likely be 3-0 entering this matchup. Oklahoma could be as well, but they have to get past a grueling road game at Michigan in week two first.

Regardless of what Oklahoma’s record is, this will be the most difficult game for Georgia by far at this point in the season. The Sooners are fresh off a College Football Playoff appearance and are looking to make their first legit run at an SEC Championship since joining the conference.

So what better way to accomplish that than by beating the kings of the SEC on the road?

Oklahoma’s offense could present real problems for Georgia in this game, but it’s the Sooners’ defense that wil carry this team. That is why CBS Sports is warning Gunner Stockton about how challenging the Sooners could be.

CBS Sports predicts Gunner Stockton will be seriously tested by Oklahoma

As the old saying goes, defense travels. Opposing offenses tend to struggle when they face Georgia in Athens, and there’s a good chance that could happen again in this game, but defenses don’t face the same challenges that offenses do. That could be a problem for Stockton.

Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables is a defensive guru. He was the Defensive Coordinator at Clemson during their run of National Championships, and that stellar defensive play has followed him to Oklahoma.

Just last year the Sooners finished the season with the No. 6 overall defense in the country.

Oklahoma will be the first true test Stockton faces this season. And with all the pressure that is on him to lead Georgia to a national title, this will be his first opportunity to prove how much he’s improved from last year.

This game will also give Stockton a chance to make his case for why he should be in the Heisman Trophy race. Sure he probably doesn’t care about that, but the fanbase would like to see him play at that high of a level.

Georgia has a few more bigger games than this on their schedule later in the season, so that could cause them to look past the Sooners a little. But CBS Sports is making sure Georgia knows how difficult this game will be, especially for Stockton.
