College football expert ends debate of who the best SEC program is

There are so many different ways that people attempt to rank SEC football programs. Whether it be based off recruiting rankings, on field success or how players perform in the NFL, comparing programs is the main source of debate now that we are fully into the offseason.

The thing about these debates however is that it is very subjective. There are countless ways to manipulate this data to make a case that one program is better than another. So what can people do to try and get an accurate ranking of SEC programs? That’s obviously up for debate, but college football expert Josh Pate did a pretty good job at doing just that.

Georgia sits atop the SEC according to college football expert

Pate used a wide variety of data to come up with the above rankings of the top 10 SEC programs. He combined talent acquisition data along with on-field results and program resources/stability over the last four years to create his top 10 teams in the SEC. And using this data, Pate obviously came to the conclusion to put Georgia football at No. 1.

There really is no argument for UGA not to be No. 1 based on this criteria in the last four years. During this time period, Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs have won two National Championships, two SEC titles and have signed a top two recruiting class in the country for three years in a row now. On top of that, not many programs in the country have been more stable or have the resources that Georgia has either.

Some of the teams directly behind Georgia have decent arguments to be close to UGA, but none can even touch the level Georgia has been at in the last four years.

The Bulldogs are however hitting a point now where their two recent National Championships are becoming “old news,” so it would be nice to see them win another title soon. But for now, Georgia is clearly the best program in the SEC which is cause for celebration.
