Georgia football is riding as high as they have been all season. They just knocked off No. 5 Ole Miss their last time out which helped them ascend into the top five of the AP Poll, and now they have five winnable games in front of them to finish the season.
But even though Georgia is feeling good about themselves right now, their defense has a lot of work to do. The Bulldogs have just nine sacks so far this season, and that is nowhere near the level of production Georgia is used to seeing from their defense.
If Georgia is going to finish the season strong they need to find away to get more pressure on opposing quarterbacks. This is something former Bulldog David Pollack agrees with, and he issued a challenge for what he thinks needs to happen for them to start finding some success at getting to the quarterback.
“I had this time for the bye week, I want to see this defense a little bit more creative,” Pollack said via dawgnation.com. “Like I want to see them come to life a little bit and rush the passer a little bit better and do some things.”
David Pollack shares the one thing Georgia needs to get better at
The solution according to Pollack is quite simple, Georgia needs to be more creative on defense. He did make sure to clarify that they don't need to be creative on every down, but on obvious passing situations they need to spice things up to keep the offense on their toes.
“More creative on third, on passing situations. We need more disguise and creativity,” Pollack continued. “That’s what I’m saying. Not on first, second down. Guaranteed passing situations, ways to get home to the QB, and ways to pressure the QB.”
Georgia's next chance to improve their pass rush comes against Florida on Saturday. The Gators have truggled mightily on offense all season, so this is the perfect opportunity for Georgia to finally start bringing the quarterback down.
And if they can accomplish that it could help propel them throughout the rest of the season.
