Georgia and Texas are gearing up for a massive showdown in Athens this weekend. The Bulldogs are favored by 5.5 points, but everyone knows Texas has a great chance to win this game still.
But a lot is going to have to go the Longhorns way if they are going to come into Sanford Stadium and leave with a win. But there is one thing that David Pollack believes has to happen for Texas to win, and it all relies on quarterback Arch Manning.
“Arch Manning is going to have to be the guy we thought he was before the season,” Pollack said via dawgnation.com. “The guy we thought was Heisman Trophy worthy. He’s going to have to play great.”
David Pollack believes Texas's hopes in upsetting Georgia rely on Arch Manning
Manning entered this season with massive expectations. He never asked for these expectations, but the general consesus was that he was the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy. That however was not even close to coming true as he really struggled from the start of the year which led Texas to a 3-2 start this season.
Manning however has been a lot better during the Longhorns four game win streak, but he has still not quite been playing at a Heisman Trophy level. That doesn't mean he's playing bad, but Pollack believes he has to play at a Heisman level to beat Georgia.
The bad news for Texas is that this might be unrealistic for him to attain on Saturday. If this game was at Texas there would be a chance he plays at that level, but it's hard to imagine him coming into Sanford Stadium and playing at a Heisman level.
Kickoff between Georgia and Texas is right around the corner, and UGA is looking to make it three straight victories over the Longhorns. But if Texas is going to get their first win over Georgia since joining the SEC, they are going to need a big game from Manning.
