Even though the Georgia Bulldogs are David Pollack's team, he too has to find a new team to root for in the College Football Playoff, now that the Dawgs are out of it. The UGA legend has covered the sport ever since his playing career in the NFL came to a heartbreaking end. His analysis on college football has found a way to resonate with fans. He has a new team he really likes in this postseason.
Former Georgia great David Pollack could not have said enough good things about Miami right now.
"The evolution of [Mario] Cristobal has been really fun to watch because they have gotten more dialed in. They've gotten more buttoned-up. They've done a better job of closing games, right? They've done a better job of not beating themselves. They've done a better job of game management."
It is undeniable that we have seen Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal level up during the playoff.
"Like, we saw some spotty moments from him in the past. And I think just like anybody else, you're supposed to grow into your job. And he's done an unbelievable job of growing into his job."
Pollack then finished his point by saying that Miami has gotten to the root of what makes teams great.
"At a time where everybody else has gotten seven-on-seven. Play pitchy-pitchy woo-woo. Throw it around the yard. Like, have a quarterback. They've been able to get those big dudes and continue to pop people in the mouth, play old school. And it's been unbelievable for them. I think Miami continues and goes to play for a national championship."
Here is everything Pollack said in his prediction of Miami beating Ole Miss to get to the national title.

What does this praise of Miami really have to do with Georgia? Could the Bulldogs learn from Miami?
David Pollack's praise of Miami could be something Georgia grows from
For as receptive to coaching as this past year's team was for Georgia, it was the coaching staff that let them down in the end... Whether it be not making the necessary adjustments in all three phases, or really not holding true to what can make Georgia football so special, the Dawgs have lost their way ever so slightly. The last point that Pollack made in praising Miami seems to resonate the most here.
In a day and age where everybody wants to spread the ball around in an attempt to go finesse, physicality wins. While Smart and his staff still preach physicality above all else, the results on the field do not always reflect that. Simply put, Georgia needs to get more ferocious along the defensive line. Where are the Georgia equivalents of Miami stars Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor at UGA?
Again, this will only be a bit of a micro-adjustment for Georgia. They do play a physical brand of football with their power running game. At times on offense, they do get a little too cute for everyone's liking. It is the Mike Bobo way after all... The big key here is Georgia can no longer have another pillow fight pass rush under Glenn Schumann's watch. Smart needs to be well aware of it.
This all comes back to recruiting, retention, and development. Georgia needs to focus in on that here.
