If there is any way to describe Daylen Everette, it is physicality which is conveniently a topic that Kirby Smart preaches at Georgia. For the Pittsburgh Steelers, that is exactly what they want to hear.

At the 85th overall pick in the NFL Draft, the Steelers selected Everette to join Joey Porter Jr and others in what is an already loaded defense.

Daylen Everette joins perfect fit in Pittsburgh

For Pittsburgh, this pick makes too much sense. When you look at the corners and safeties of Pittsburgh's past, they look for toughness. They look for guys who can play run support while creating turnovers. Everette is exactly that.

Everette found himself break out in 2024, turning himself into a catalyst in Georgia's secondary. Against Texas in 2024, he single handily helped Georgia beat them in both the regular season and SEC Championship, recording interceptions and forced fumbles in both games.

Even in his last game as a Bulldog, Everette had a pick-6 in a comeback effort that eventually fell short against Ole Miss. That spirit and leadership is what Pittsburgh craves.

With guys already on that defense like TJ Watt there to lead the way, this gives Everette the opportunity to continue to learn and grow under an experienced secondary. The thing is, he does not need time to develop. He is already a proven corner against stiff competition. Everette can come into Steelers country and start immediately, a commodity hard to find now in corners.

The Steelers play in the AFC North, a division with guys like Jamar Chase and Zay Flowers. It was crucial that Pittsburgh found a guy that can not only stick with these guys in man coverage, but also play run support when playing guys like Derrick Henry.

This is a great pick for the Steelers in the third round and one that will pay dividends for years to come.
