Georgia football is days away from their next SEC matchup against Kentucky. The good news is that this game is at home and the Wildcats are one of the worst teams in the conference, so there is a great chance that Georgia will be able to get back into the win column on Saturday.
But the Bulldogs received a dose of bad news Wednesday night when their first injury report for Saturday's contest was released and right tackle Earnest Greene was already ruled out for this game.
Earnest Greene injury update vs. Kentucky
Greene has been dealing with injuries since the start of the season. He first suffered an injury in Georgia's season opener that kept him sidelined for week two as well. Greene then gave it a go against Tennessee but was unable to play the entire game. Fast forward to last weekend and Greene was also ruled out prior to Georgia's showdown with Alabama as well.
Kirby Smart spoke about Greene's injury and he unfortunately did not have a timeline for his return.
“Earnest continues to work, rehab to get better and strengthen and really get stamina, endurance,” Smart shared via dawgnation.com. “He’s working hard to get back. Don’t know the timeline on that yet.”
The good news for Georgia is that they don't need Greene to beat Kentucky this weekend. Georgia has plenty of options behind Greene on the depth chart as well who will be able to fill in for him while he gets healthy.
But it goes without saying how important it is for Georgia to get Greene back. They will need him when UGA's schedule ramps up again, so hopefully Greene will be good to go in no time.
Georgia and Kentucky are scheduled to kickoff on Saturday, Oct. 4 at noon EST.
