In 2024, the Georgia Bulldogs were shocked by the decommitment of five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola, who flipped his commitment to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. While Georgia was obviously disappointed by the news, they continued to push ahead with Carson Beck and now Gunner Stockton.

Raiola struggled in his first season at Nebraska last year but had shown improvement in 2025 before he broke his fibula a few weeks ago. If it wasn't already obvious enough that Georgia dodged a bullet, recent rumors have indicated that Nebraska believes Raiola could be hitting the Transfer Portal this offseason.

Dylan Raiola rumored to enter Transfer Portal

Nobody should be surprised by this fact. Raiola attended four different high schools as a teenager and flipped his college commitment twice during his senior year. Georgia wants players who are truly committed and loyal to the program, and Raiola has never been that person no matter where he's played.

Stockton has stuck with Georgia from day one and sat for four years waiting for his opportunity to start. Aaron Murray, Stetson Bennett, and many others are prime examples of those who waited their turn and fhined at the University of Georgia. Raiola did not want that. He flipped to Nebraska for the massive NIL deal they offered him. Now that the market has seemingly increased and larger programs are looking for a quarterback, no one should be surprised by this rumor.

Nebraska could find itself in 2026 without its star quarterback and still have no major wins to show for it. Georgia, on the other hand, will likely still have Stockton and former four-star recruit Ryan Puglisi right behind him waiting for his turn. So it is safe to say that Georgia is not regretting offering Raiola more to sign with the University of Georgia.

In fact, it might not be a stretch to say that head coach Kirby Smart is relieved at the fact that he has the quarterback room that he does.
