Georgia football is beginning their third recruiting weekend of June as many elite recruits will flock to Athens to make their official visits with Georgia this weekend. One of those recruits Georgia was expecting to host was four-star EDGE Landon Barnes.

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Barnes is the No. 139 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 18 EDGE in the 2026 recruiting class as well as the No. 22 player from his home state of Texas.

The fact that Barnes is ranked so high made him one of the most anticipated visitors heading to Georgia this weekend, but he reportedly has decided to cancel his visit to Georgia at the last second.

4-star EDGE no longer visiting Georgia

The reason why Barnes cancelled his visit to Georgia isn't known, but at the end of the day it doesn't really matter. He apparently no longer has any interest in Georgia, so that's all that really matters.

Barnes most recently took a visit to Ole Miss last weekend which could be the reason why he cancelled his visit to Georgia this weekend. There is a chance he loved his trip to Ole Miss so much that he no longer needs to visit any other schools because that is where he wants to commit. He still has not announced a commitment to Ole Miss (or any other school) though, so that may not be the case.

Regardless, Georgia no longer will be in pursuit of Barnes after this update which means they can focus more of their attention on other EDGE targets. Thankfully there are plenty of other recruits out there at EDGE that Georgia has shown a lot of interest in, so this update may not be as big of a deal as it originally seemed.
