ESPN expert discusses his confidence in Georgia against Texas
Georgia football’s biggest game of the season is almost here. The Bulldogs will travel to No. 1 Texas to face a Longhorns team that boasts the No. 1 defense in the country.
Does that stat scare you? I’ll be honest that it does scare me a little. But that stat is a little misleading considering the offenses that Texas has faced so far this season.
Gerogia statistically has the best offense by far that Texas will have faced up to this point in the season. So we will find out soon just how talented the “No. 1 defense in the country” actually is.
Since I’m biased, me having confidence in Georgia’s offense against Texas probably doesn’t mean all that much. But what if I told you that other more unbiased college football experts agree with this sentiment as well?
ESPN College GameDay host Rece Davis recently weighed in on the upcoming showdown between Georgia and Texas, and Davis sounds very confident in Georgia’s chances this weekend as well.
“I would say that the other key is that Georgia has to be as effective throwing the football as they have and it certainly would help if they’d be a little bit better running it,” Rece Davis said via UGASports.com. “They’re dynamic passing, Texas hasn't seen anything like it in terms of a veteran quarterback and the number of problems that Georgia can pose on offense… I’ve seen way too much Kirby Smart football to think that Georgia goes into any game completely outmanned and with no hope.”
Not only does Davis agree that Georgia’s offense could really challenge the Longhorns’ defense, but he also makes a good point about Smart.
Davis knows as good as anyone how talented Georgia is year in and year out. He also knows how good Smart is as a head coach. Sure the Bulldogs maybe haven’t looked as strong as they have the last couple years, but this is still Georgia football. The Bulldogs are still one of the best teams in the country who have a lot of recent history playing in these big games. So for some people to think Georgia stands no chance on Saturday is just insane to me.
We won’t have to wait much longer to see how Georgia does against Texas, but as more and more experts voice their opinions on this game I find my confidence in a Georgia win growing with it.
