Momentum continues to build in Athens, and the projections leave little room for doubt.

A few weeks ago ESPN’s Neil Paine gave Georgia basketball a 95 percent probability of reaching the NCAA tournament and ranked them as the first team in his “Should be in” tier. The placement ended up being 100 percent accurate as the Bulldogs clinched their spot in the NCAA Tournament a few weeks before the regular season ended.

Fast forward a few weeks and Georgia enters the NCAA Tournament as an 8-seed against Saint Louis as they look for their first victory in the Big Dance in three decades. But the Bulldogs resume shows what people like Paine have known all along, Georgia is capable of going on a run.

Georgia basketball is ready to shock the world

Georgia isn't the best team in the country. In reality they are far from it, and being an 8-seed confirms that. But this Georgia team has the potential to go on a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.

Before Georgia can get ahead of themselves they have to take down Saint Louis. Vegas only favors Georgia by 2.5 points, so this will not be an easy game for them to win. But assuming they do win things could get very interesting for the Bulldogs.

Likely waiting for Georgia in the second round is 1-seed Michigan. On paper Georgia won't stand a chance, but the Bulldogs resume says otherwise. Georgia has a few really strong wins this season which includes a victory over an Alabama team who earned a top four seed. If the Bulldogs are able to beat the Crimson Tide then they should at worse be able to hang with Michigan.

And sometimes in March that's all a team needs to do to pull out a win.

It remains to be seen how far Georgia will go, but this is a team that is capable of rattling off some wins for the first time in a very long time.
