Georgia football had one of the most impressive wins in the SEC on Saturday as they took down Marshall 45-7. Sure Marshall isn't an opponent that is anywhere near the level of UGA, but the Bulldogs did what they were supposed to do and won this game in dominant fashion.
One team who didn't do as well on Saturday is Texas, who lost to Ohio State 14-7. The Longhorns defense played extremely well, but their offense struggled all game long. Quarterback Arch Manning also played much worse than anyone expected, so Texas's future this season is already looking extremely shaky.
After being the preseason No. 1 team in the country, every college football fan should agree that Texas should fall in the rankings after this loss, but ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) disagrees. In fact, the FPI kept Texas at No. 1 even after their loss to Ohio State.

ESPN somehow keeps Texas as the No.1 team in the country
It's worth mentioning first that Ohio State has more to be upset about with Texas still being No. 1 than any other team in the country. It hasn't even been a whole 24 hours since the Buckeyes literally beat Texas on the field, so there is no reason for any ranking to have the Longhorns above Ohio State.
But Georgia (and a few other teams) have a good argument to be above Texas as well. Even though Georgia's win came against a severely overmatched opponent, beating Marshall by 38 points has to count for something. Teams like Tennessee and LSU also had two extremely impressive wins on Saturday as well, and they aren't even close to Texas in these rankings.
Georgia sitting at No. 2 is more than fair at this point in the season, but there is no reason Texas of all teams should be the one team above them. But ESPN and the media have been biased towards Manning and the Longhorns all offseason, so maybe this shouldn't be all that surprising after all.
