ESPN has released its "way-too-early" All-American team for 2026, and somewhat surprisingly, only one Georgia Bulldog is on the team.

Junior safety and Buford high school product KJ Bolden is the lone Dawg representative, according to former UGA beat writer Mark Schlabach, who compiled the squad, consisting of a first team offense, defense, and special teams.

KJ Bolden is living up to his five-star status

Bolden was one of the prized recruits from the 2024 recruiting class and has lived up to the lofty ranking status and hefty NIL package that lured him away from Florida St.

From the moment Bolden set foot on campus, he has been the general of Kirby Smart's defensive backfield, following in the footsteps of All-American Malaki Starks, who now plays with the Baltimore Ravens. Bolden was named a Freshman All-American following his debut season.

Bolden started all 14 games for Georgia as a sophomore, finishing second on the team with 76 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, seven pass defenses, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick. He also nabbing SEC Coaches All-SEC Second Team honors.

In his first two seasons, the speedy six-foot, 205-pound safety has been outstanding in both coverage and in run support. He has registered 135 tackles, dropping the hammer on both edges of the Georgia front and plugging running lanes.

Bolden has shown an optimal blend of speed, athleticism, play recognition, and willingness to be the physical presence that Smart and DB coach Donte Williams demand from the position.

Bolden should be joined by several other Dawgs as an All-American

There are several other Bulldogs that could stake a claim to this honor alongside Bolden as they are on the cusp of breakout campaigns.

On the defense alone, cases could be made for cornerback Ellis Robinson IV, linebackers Raylen Wilson and Chris Cole, and DT Elijah Griffin.

On offense, look for center Drew Bobo and right guard Dontrell Glover to make a run at the postseason All-American honor along the offensive line, while quarterback Gunner Stockton, tight end Lawson Luckie and running back Nate Frazier will be in the mix at the skill positions.
