Georgia football will take on Mississippi State in their final road game of the season on Saturday. Typically a matchup against Mississippi State feels like a week off for Georgia, but that isn't the case this season. Not only has Georgia not been as dominant this season as they usually are, but Mississippi State is much better than their 1-4 record in conference play suggests.
But even if all of that is true, Georgia should still be expected to win this game with relative ease. A lot of people however aren't thinking that way, and ESPN's College GameDay Saturday morning expressed just how much they think Georgia will struggle with Mississippi State.
College GameDay crew is convinced Georgia will struggle vs Mississippi State
The College GameDay crew spent a good chunk of time talking about Georgia's matchup with Mississippi State on Saturday. But instead of talking about how good they think UGA is as the No. 5 team in the country, they did the exact opposite.
The GameDay crew talked on and on about how much of a trap game this is for Georgia. They also believe Mississippi State is a much better team than their record suggests and that UGA might be overlooking them with Texas coming to Athens next week. The crew is so confident Georgia is going to struggle that they all picked Mississippi State to cover the spread in this matcup. Desmond Howard even went as far as to predict Georgia to lose outright.
It's easy to see why they feel this way because Georgia has a lot of close wins this season while Mississippi State has a lot of close losses. So while Georgia is favored by 9.5 points, it very likely could be a much closer game than that.
At the end of the day the only thing that matters is if Georgia wins this game. It doesn't have to be pretty, so at the end of the day this will be a great win for Georgia even if they only win by one point.
