Georgia football has had some elite receivers come through Athens over the past few years. Ladd McConkey, George Pickens, Brock Bowers and Zachariah Branch are just a few of the solid pass catchers that have shined throughout their careers at Georgia.
Some analysts however still don’t view Georgia as a place that’s good enough for five-star wide receivers. That’s at least what former Atlanta Falcon Brian Finneran says.
"As a receiver, as a five-star receiver, I think one of the last places I'm going to play football is Georgia." 👀

Georgia can win national championships. Georgia can develop NFL talent.

Georgia’s recent talent at WR is better than most
This take from Finneran doesn’t make a lot of sense. For starters, Georgia has had nine receivers drafted to the NFL since 2019 which is tied for the most out of any school in the country. Some of these players were drafted in the later rounds, but then there’s guys like Pickens and McConkey who are picked in the second round and Branch who was taken in the third round.
Speaking of Branch, he just set the single season receptions record at Georgia last year. Finneran’s whole argument is that he doesn’t think there’s enough emphasis on the passing game in Georgia’s offense to satisfy a five-star, but Branch proved that wrong last year.
Georgia may not have the amount of top end talent at wide receiver that programs like Ohio State has had, but they are in that next tier below them that five-star recruits could thrive in.
Talyn Taylor is proving this take wrong right now
Talyn Taylor is another reason why this take is a bit ridiculous. He is a sophomore at Georgia this year, but out of high school he was a five-star recruit. It makes no sense to suggest that five-stars wouldn’t want to come to Georgia after one did just two years ago.
You also have to factor in the fact that quarterback Jayden Wade is already committed to Georgia. He is the No. 1 QB in the 2028 class, so he is a perfect reason for why five-star receivers should consider Georgia.
Georgia has also dominated the SEC for the last few years and is usually one of the favorites to win a national title every year too. Five-stars want to go somewhere where they can win while being developed for the next level, and Georgia clearly has that to offer them.
Who knows why Finneran felt the need to say that elite receivers shouldn’t want to go to Georgia. The Bulldogs can offer everything any five-star recruit would want in a program, so in reality they seem like the perfect landing spot for any elite receiver.
