Georgia football still has a little work to do to guarantee their spot in the College Football Playoff. But it really is as simple as them beating Georgia Tech on Friday and they will make the 12-team field again this season.

Most Georgia fans however feel like beating Tech is a foregone conclusion, so a lot of them are looking ahead to the postseason as Georgia seems like one of the favorites to win a National Championship. Atlanta's 680 The Fan radio host Chuck Oliver however is not convinced Georgia will stand much of a chance if they do make it to the playoff.

“I think of all five teams that are making the playoffs from the SEC, the only two that are really different on offense is A&M and Ole Miss, and the Georgia shortcoming is I don’t think they can grind out possessions,” said via ugafootballlive.com. “I don’t think when they’re up 6 with 6 minutes left — I think the other team gets the ball back.”

“You’ve seen them run the ball this year,” Oliver continued. “They don’t strike me as a team that can, against a top-caliber defense — we’re going to keep the possession here, you ain’t getting it back. A&M can do that and Ole Miss can do that.”

SEC radio host believes Georgia's offense will ruin their CFP run

Oliver believes that Georgia will be unable to advance in the playoff this season because their offense isn't reliable enough. The main example he gave was Georgia being unable to run the clock out if they are up late in a game to keep the ball out of their opponents hands.

This is a weird thing to say because Georgia's offense has proven multiple times this year that they can do exactly that. Against Auburn Gunner Stockton scored a late touchdown to take a 10 point lead, but he could have gone down to run the clock out and end the game. But just a few weeks later he had the same opportunity late in a game and did take a knee on the one yard line to run the clock out instead.

So of all the things to be worried about when it comes to Georgia's offense, this is the last thing because they have proven multiple times they can end a game with the ball in their hands. So who knows what Oliver is really getting at, but his rationale makes no sense in this case.
