Fernando Mendoza is the last line of defense to save Georgia from insufferable misery

No team will be rooting harder for the Indiana Hoosiers in the national championship than Georgia.

While the Fiesta Bowl went down to the wire, the Peach Bowl was a laugher as soon as Dante Moore fumbled the ball deep in Oregon territory. So with the national championship set between the No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers and the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes on MLK Day, Dawg Nation needs to become the biggest IU fans of all time. Otherwise, that would mean Carson Beck will win a national championship.

Truth be told, Beck already won two as Stetson Bennett IV's back at Georgia in 2021 and 2022. While he has played better in each subsequent College Football Playoff game, there is nothing that Fernando Mendoza can do wrong. He will be the No. 1 overall pick by the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2026 NFL Draft after next week's national title bout. He is a more athletic version of Matt Ryan for IU.

While Beck has proven to be an incredibly clutch player throughout his college career, he will turn the football over when you least expect it. Mendoza fits Curt Cignetti's offense like hand in glove. He is playing with so much confidence, making everyone better around him in this supporting cast. Indiana is one win away from going 16-0, but UGA fans better hope that Mendoza outshines Beck in Miami.

Truth be told, 2025 Indiana may be as dominant as 2022 Georgia was, or even as good as 2019 LSU...

Fernando Mendoza has to be who stops Carson Beck from winning CFP

Look. At this stage of the game, we are all just looking for new ways to entertain ourselves before next season starts. Georgia had its chances to be playing at this stage of the postseason and blew it. To be totally honest, it had nothing to do with quarterback play for the most part. Gunner Stockton played well enough all season long to be playing in a championship setting like this one set upon us.

Although Beck and Mendoza both have had storied college careers, it will come to an end for both of them next Monday night in Miami. Beck will have exhausted all of his collegiate eligibility, while Mendoza cannot afford to overlook the millions he will surely be making as some team's next NFL franchise quarterback. Beck has an NFL future, but his pathway to the pros will not be paved in gold.

Ultimately, Georgia made the best decision for itself in moving forward with Stockton. Beck did the same by transferring to Miami. Again, both parties can have success after breaking up. That is usually what happens in this thing called life. However, we simply refuse to as a society to enjoy the areas of grey in between. There must be a winner and a loser, and there is no way around it! This is how it goes.

So if that is the case, then by all means, hop on the Indiana bandwagon and root so hard for Mendoza!
