Gunner Stockton has officially played his way into the Heisman Trophy conversation. His five touchdown performance during Georgia's win over Ole Miss two weeks ago was good enough to strike fear into the hearts of any opponent, but Florida believes they have an answer to slow him down.
Interim head coach Billy Gonzales spoke this week on how they plan to slow Stockton down, and he believes it is simple as getting a lot of pressure on him.
“The main thing is for us is to hopefully be able to cause some pressure to him, and to cause pressure means being able to coverage in the back end as well,” Gonzales shared via dawgnation.com.

This answer couldn't have been more elementary. Of course getting more pressure on a quarterback is going to make it more likely that they struggle, that can be said about any quarterback who has ever played competitive football.
The great quarterbacks however are the ones who still find a way to be efficient even when facing a lot of pressure, and that is something that Stockton is capable of.
Stockton has shown throughout the season that he is an effective passer, but he is at his best when he can escape the pocket and use his legs. When a defense is able to get a lot of pressure on him, he typcially is able to avoid the oncoming defenders, get out of danger and take off down field for a big gain.
So while it may seem as simple as getting a lot of pressure on Stockton, in reality that may not be enough to slow him down. He is playing at such a high level and has proven he can still be a great player in the face of a lot of pressure, so Gonzales better hope he has more to his game plan than that.
