Georgia fans have been thinking about Florida's offense the most heading into their rivalry matchup this weekend. They however should probably be more concerned about the Gators' defense instead.

Florida has had one of the best offenses in the country this season, so it makes sense for Georgia to be worried about the amount of points they could give up this weekend. The Gators secret weapon though has nothing to do with offense, they actually aren't even a player on the field. Florida's secret weapon is defensive coordinator Brad White who has found a lot of success against Georgia throughout his coaching career.

Brad White has silently dominated Georgia offenses in his career

White was the defensive coordinator at Kentucky from 2019-2025. He coached against Georgia seven times in that role and was never able to beat them, but his defense gave UGA a lot of fits.

Three of those games he held Georgia to under 17 points. This includes the narrow 13-12 win at Kentucky in 2024 along with the Bulldogs' 16-6 win in 2022 and 14-3 victory in 2020.

The key thing to point out is that all of these results occurred away from Athens. For whatever reason White was able to have his defense ready to play whenever Georgia came to town, and in those three home games he coached against Georgia his defense won the battle against Georgia's offense.

Sure Georgia never lost to him while he was at Kentucky, but holding UGA under 17 points three times at a school like Kentucky is something any defensive coordinator would be proud of. Now he is in his first season at Florida, and that could be the difference for him.

Brad White has more talent than he ever had at Kentucky

Everyone knows that Florida has more talent than Kentucky. Sure Kentucky is having a great season this year, but the Gators typically have far more talent on the defensive side of the ball during the average season. That's a bit concerning though for Georgia because who knows how well he could do against UGA now that he has more talent at his disposal.

If he can coach Kentucky's defense as well as he did against Georgia three different times, it wouldn't be surprising to see him do even better now that he's with the Gators. He also doesn't ever have to coach against Georgia in Athens where he struggled in the past, so the theme of finding success against UGA outside of Athens could continue now that he is at Florida for the foreseeable future.

It will be interesting to see how he does against Georgia now that he is a Gator, but he clearly will have a lot of confidence going against UGA this weekend. That typically hasn't been the case for many defensive coordinators over the past decade since Kirby Smart became head coach, but Florida's defensive leader is someone who has found more success against Georgia than most other coaches can say they have in their careers.
