Former Georgia football defensive lineman Bear Alexander hasn’t played at UGA since 2022. But even though he’s moved on from Georgia, he still remembers his time during the one season he spent there.
Alexander was recently asked about his time so far at Oregon and how it’s been different than when he was at Georgia and USC, and his response paints the Bulldogs team chemistry in a negative light.
“Man, honestly and truly, speaking, just the joy and the peace. The team, the connection piece of just being able to be around the guys.”
Bear Alexander on what’s been different about this offseason with Oregon, vs. past years at Georgia and USC:

“Man, honestly and truly, speaking, just the joy and the peace. The team, the connection piece of just being able to be around the guys.”
Former Georgia DL Bear Alexander did not enjoy his time at UGA
Alexander spent one season at Georgia in 2022. During that season he was able to record nine total tackles which included two sacks. Overall this isn’t a terrible year for any first year college player, but he wasn’t enjoying his time enough to stick around at Georgia any longer as he transferred in the offseason to USC.
After two years with the Trojans, Alexander is on the move again and will now play for Oregon this fall.
In the above statement, Alexander is saying that he loves the team atmosphere a lot more at Oregon than he did at Georgia and USC. He feels like he can be himself with the Ducks, which is something that may not have been the case at his first two stops.
Part of this statement isn’t that surprising because not everyone is meant to play at Georgia. Not every player will thrive under Kirby Smart’s team and that is okay, that doesn’t make them a bad player. But it is weird for him to suggest that Georgia’s locker room wasn’t that good during the 2022 season.
Does anyone remember what happened that year? The bulldogs went 15-0 and won their second straight National Championship. How could any locker room be bad when that amount of success is occurring on the field?
Regardless, it’s unlikely that Alexander meant for this to be a shot at Georgia. However, even if he didn’t mean to, this does suggest that he thought their were some issues he couldn’t get over during his time in Athens.
