Did anyone else forget that Texas Tech football exists? The Red Raiders reside in the state that arguably cares the most about football, yet Texas Tech continues to be a program year after year that accomplishes nothing.
Georgia football however is learning a lot about the Red Raiders on the recruiting trail because Texas Tech has been predicted to beat Georgia for five-star EDGE LaDamion Guyton, who is the No. 1 overall recruit in the country.

5-star EDGE predicted to pick Texas Tech over Georgia
As mentioned, Guyton is the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2027 recruiting class. This fact alone makes him a target UGA would be very interested in, but Guyton is also from the state of Georgia as well. So this arguably makes him the most important target for UGA in the 2027 class. So the latest prediction in Texas Tech's favor is bad news for Georgia.
Since Guyton is in the 2027 class, most would assume that Kirby Smart and his staff have over a year to change Guyton's mind and get him in UGA's recruiting class. That however is no longer the case anymore because Guyton shared on Tuesday that he will announce his commitment on Thursday, Aug. 7.
Georgia theoretically still has time to change Guyton's mind, but at this point that is unlikely to happen before his commitment on Aug. 7. So the only hope that Georgia has now is that they will be able to change his mind over the next year and convince Guyton to flip his commitment from Texas Tech to UGA.
Thankfully if any team will be able to do that is is Georgia since Guyton is from the Peach State, but for now this recruitment looks like it will be a loss, but there is always a chance that changes before he signs his letter of intent in December of 2026.
