Georgia football has brought a groundbreaking case to court against one of their former players. On Friday it was reported that Georgia was taking former Bulldog Damon Wilson to court claiming he did not pay his NIL buyout after transferring to Missouri last offseason.
This case has not gone to court yet and it will likely be a long time until a verdict is handed out, but this case has quickly taken over the college football world. And after seeing how much attention this story was getting, Wilson's attorney released a statement accusing Georgia of being the party in the wrong.
"After all the facts come out, people will be shocked at how the University of Georgia treated a student-athlete. It has never been about the money for Damon, he just wants to play the game he loves and pursue his dream of playing in the NFL."
From attorney Bogdan Susan: "After all the facts come out, people will be shocked at how the University of Georgia treated a student-athlete. It has never been about the money for Damon, he just wants to play the game he loves and pursue his dream of playing in the NFL."

Damon Wilson's attorney responds to Georgia's accusation against former Bulldog
This statement from Wilson's attorney is very strange because it doesn't say anything about the accusation Georgia is making. Georgia is claiming Wilson did not pay his contractual buyout when he transferred to Missouri, and Wilson's attorney made no mention of this accusation in this statement. All he said was that Georgia treated Wilson poorly, which in this case is irrelevant.
Obviously the hope is that Georgia didn't do anything they shouldn't have to Wilson, but even if they did that shouldn't matter to this case. If Wilson signed a deal that included a buyout if he were to transfer then he should have to pay it. And if he in fact did not pay it like Georgia claimed then there is no reason UGA shouldn't win this case.
It will be interesting to see how this case is resolved, but it doesn't appear Wilson is going to go down without a fight.
