Charlie Condon is a name that every Georgia badeball fan knows. The former Bulldogs superstar helped get Wes Johnson’s tenure at Georgia underway as he won the Golden Spikes Award in 2024 which goes to the nation’s best baseball player.
Condon left Georgia for the MLB after the 2024 season and so far has lived in the Colorado Rockies minor league system. That isn’t uncommon even for the best prospects early in their professional career, but it’s time for the Rockies to do the right thing and call him up to the big leagues.

The Colorado Rockies have no choice but to give Charlie Condon a chance
Condon has been having a really impressive 2026 campaign so far this year. On Tuesday he smashed yet another home run which was his 16th of the year, and that is the type of power the Rockies could really use.
The Rockies unfortunately are an abysmal team this year. They are 19 games below .500 and are 23 games back from first place in their division. So even if Condon was on their roster all season it likely wouldn’t have changed anything.
But he deserves a chance.
At this point the Rockies have nothing to lose. They aren’t going to make the playoffs this year, so now they need to turn their attention to the future. Condon is the future of their franchise, so why not call him up and let him get used to playing in the big leagues before there is added pressure when they might be making a run to the playoffs in the future.
There really isn’t a reason why the Rockies shouldn’t call him up, so hopefully they do the right thing and get him to the big leagues as soon as possible.
Charlie Condon helped build Georgia into what it is today
Condon helped put Georgia baseball back on the map at the perfect time. His Golden Spikes season occurred during Johnson’s first year as Georgia’s head coach, and that couldn’t have come at a better time.
In 2024 Georgia made it to the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament where they unfortunately fell just short of making the College World Series. But Georgia was able to build off that season and make it to the CWS this past year while also winning the SEC.
That may not have happened if Condon didn’t have the year he did in 2024, so he deserves a lot of credit for setting the foundation and helping build the program into what it is today. So hopefully the Rockies do their homework and give him a chance because he could do the same thing for them in the coming years.
