Former Georgia football defensive back Tykee Smith may have only played three seasons in Athens, but he quickly became a household name especially at the end of his career. Smith has now moved on to the NFL is gearing up for his second season in the league with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Buccaneers just posted Smith making one of the wildest interceptions during a recent practice that you will ever see.

Tykee Smith makes wild interception in practice with Tampa Bay
The above interception shows Smith making a great play by tipping the ball away from the receiver with one hand. Instead of being satisfied with that play however, he located the ball in the air and came down with it before barely getting his two feet inbounds.
Smith began his college career at West Virginia in 2019 where he played two seasons. After the 2020 season he made the move to Georgia where he began his slow rise to stardom.
Smith did not play much during his first year at Georgia in 2021, but in 2022 he appeared in 14 games and recorded 28 tackles and two sacks. But it was his final season in 2023 when Smith really exploded onto the scene and was one of Georgia's best defenders in the secondary. During this season, Smith tallid 70 tackles which included nine tackles for loss and two sacks. But most impressively, he snagged a whopping four interceptions during the season.
Smith was then drafted by Tampa Bay with the 89th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Making the transition to the NFL was not difficult for Smith as a rookie as he recorded 54 tackles, two interceptions and three forced fumbles during the 2024 season.
Entering the 2025 season, Smith now is looking to continue his rise as he tries to become more of a household name across the NFL. Tampa Bay and Georgia fans already knows how special of a player he is, but he is yet to become a well known player throughout the rest of the country.
But if Smith continues making plays like the interception in the above video, it won't be long before everyone across the country knows who he is.
