There are always a lot of mixed feelings whenever a Georgia football coach moves on to a new position. Georgia fans are always very excited to see how this coach does at their new school, especially when they are becoming a head coach for the first time. But there is always a part of UGA fans that are sad to see a coach leave, especially if they were a very good coach while in Athens.
Monday saw yet another former Georgia coach get hired as a head coach at a new school, but this announcement isn't sad for Georgia fans at all. That is because this coach hasn't been with the porgram for a year, so it's not like UGA is losing anyone currently on the staff.
So when former coach Scott Cochran was announced as the next head coach of West Alabama, it was all smiles and praise coming from Georgia and the fanbase.

Scott Cochran becomes new head coach of West Alabama
Former Georgia Special Teams Coordinator Scott Cochran was announced on Monday as the new head coach of West Alabama.
Cochran was hired as the Special Teams Coordinator at Georgia by Kirby Smart in 2020. Cochran was part of Georgia's staff for four years, meaning that he was in Athens for Georgia's back-to-back National Championships in 2022 and 2023. In February of last year, Cochran stepped down and resigned from his position at the program.
Clearly he was unable to stay away from the coaching game for long as he has taken this head coaching gig less than a year later.
West Alabama is a division two program that actually had a very strong season last year. They finished the year 9-2 while only having one loss in conference play. So Cochran will be expected to continue that excellence into his first season, but if Georgia fans learned anything about him during his time at Georgia then he most certainly will continue winning at West Alabama.
