It is not uncommon at all for former Georgia football stars to cash in and make a lot of money in the NFL. In order to do that in the league, players have to find a lot of success during their first few seasons in the NFL so when their rookie contract expires they can sign a more lucrative deal.
There are many former Bulldogs who are looking to sign a new deal this offseason, including Buffalo Bills star running back James Cook who may be asking for a little too much money. But there is another Bulldog will become a free agent later this offseason who will command a strong $15 million, two-year contract according to spotrac.com.
New York Giants LB Azeez Ojulari
Azeez Ojulari is a star linebacker who has been with the New York Giants for four seasons now. Ojulari spent three seasons in Athens before being selected with the 50th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Ojulari has had a solid four-year career so far with the Giants and is coming off a season with 28 total tackles and an impressive six sacks in 2024. These stats may not jump out as overly impressive, but he accomplished this while only playing in 11 games this season.
Injuries have plagued Ojulari for almost his entire NFL career as he has missed a lot of time each of the last three seasons, so that will be a major concern from every NFL team that is thinking about signing him this offseason. But there is no denying how great of a talent he is when healthy, so one team will surely take a chance on him.
It's unclear which NFL teams are thinking about targeting him in Free Agency this offseason, but he will be one of the top available linebacker/EDGE rushers available, so he will likely have his fair share of suitors.
