The first day of the NFL Playoffs is in the books, and to no one’s surprise, former Georgia football stars are shining on the biggest stage. The NFL had two playoff games on Saturday, and wide receiver Ladd McConkey was the star of the first game with the Los Angeles Chargers.

But later on Saturday, there was another Bulldog receiver who played extremely well with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

George Pickens dominates with the Steelers

In the second game of the NFL Playoffs, the Pittsburgh Steelers traveled to the Baltimore Ravens in a battle between two division foes. There was a lot of hype heading into this game between two heated rivals, but the game didn’t live up to that hype as the Ravens beat the Steelers 28-14.

However, even though the Steelers struggled all night, one of their receivers had a monster performance, and he just so happens to be a former Bulldog. That player is George Pickens, who led the Steelers with 87 receiving yards to go with five receptions and the below touchdown catch.

Pickens’ season with the Steelers unfortunately will end with a first round playoff loss, but that doesn’t take away from the great season that he had. Pickens finished his season just shy of 1,000 yards with 987, but he also added 64 receptions along with four touchdowns. But his best performance of the season came in the biggest game of the season in the playoffs, which speaks to how great of a player he is.

This wraps up Pickens’ third season in the NFL, and in his short career he has surpassed 800 receiving yards each year. This includes eclipsing 1,100 yards in 2023. So while this season didn’t end as Pickens hoped, he has cemented himself as a great wide receiver in the NFL who has many more productive years in front of him.
