Former Georgia star quarterback Matthew Stafford has had quite the complicated training camp with the Los Angeles Rams. Stafford has been working through a back injury that has been described as an aggravated disk, and it has been keeping him out of practices, as well as the Rams' first preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Stafford, however, has just gotten some good news. The former Bulldogs will work out on Saturday, just like he did in the previous week, and there is hope his back will have a better response than last night. After the last workout, Stafford did not participate in any sort of workout or jog-through on Wednesday or any day after.
"Hopefully [his back] responds a little better," Rams head coach Sean McVay said during media availability.

When asked about whether or not this injury is more about function or pain management, McVay was honest with the media, saying it could be a little bit of both. The biggest thing for the Rams right now is getting a handle on this injury so that Stafford can get back on track with the team and hopefully be ready to go for the start of the season.
The workout Stafford is set to do this Saturday is similar to the one he did last week when he threw 68 passes with no limitations on the types of throws he was making. The plan was to have Stafford then run drills on practice the following Monday, but while the star quarterback said he felt good, he didn't feel good enough to throw just two days later, based on how his body was feeling when he woke up.
Right now, surgery has not been an option discussed amongst the training staff and Stafford, but the 37-year-old may want to fully consider all of his options if he wants to further his career for a few years. Right now, the Rams have Jimmy Garoppolo and another former Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett, as their backup quarterbacks. There is still hope, though, that Stafford will be ready for the start of the season.
