The Florida Gators are going to look like a completely different team when they take on Georgia next year. Not only did the Gators fire head coach Billy Napier and hire Jon Sumrall from Tulane, but star quarterback DJ Lagway will no longer be on their team as he plans to enter the Transfer Portal.

A new head coach means a completely new coaching staff will be at Florida as well. Sumrall so far has been adding new coaches from the across country to join his staff, and it just so happens that he is adding former Georgia tight end Ryland Goede to his staff.

Former Georgia Bulldog joins Florida's coaching staff

Goede is a former four-star tight end who played at Georgia for four years beginning in 2019. During his first season he suffered a shoulder injury that really impacted his caareer with the Bulldogs, but he was still part of Georgia's two National Championship winning teams in 2021 and 2022. Goede also played baseball at Georgia in 2020 and 2021 as well.

After the 2022 season Goede transferred to Mississippi State for one year before playing his final season of college football at Georgia Tech in 2024. This past season he transitioned into a coaching role for the Yellow Jackets as a graduate assistant.

Goede will now make the move to join Sumrall's staff at Florida where he will an off-the-field analyst on the offensive side of the ball. This may not be the biggest role on a coaching staff, but this is how most coaches start their careers, so he is hoping that he can use this opportunity to build his resume and earn a better role elsewhere in the future.

Goede will always be remembered for how great of a person he was while at Georgia. Even when dealing with a significant injury he was always in good spirits and helped Georgia out in every way possible. So even though he is a coach at a rival school now, Georgia fans should still hope for the best and cheer him on to what could be the start of a very successful coaching career.
