Former Georgia tight end Brock Bowers is having a record-breaking rookie season
Georgia football fans are used to witnessing former Bulldogs find a lot of success in the NFL. Each week it seems like multiple Bulldogs explode for massive games around the enitre NFL.
But there is one rookie this season who was amazing at Georgia who is continuing on that same path this season in the NFL.
Brock Bowers makes NFL history
We all know how great Brock Bowers was at Georgia. The standout tight end accumulated 175 receptions for 2,538 and 26 touchdowns throughout his three year career at Georgia. During that time, Bowers won many awards including the 2022 and 2023 John Mackey Award (which goes to the nation's top tight end) as well as being a unanimous First Team All-American selection in 2023.
All of this success led to Bowers being drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders with the 13th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Fast forward to his rookie regular season and Bowers is already making waves just seven games into his NFL career.
Through his first seven NFL games, Bowers has recorded 47 receptions for 477 yards and one touchdown. While he may not be finding the end zone as much as he did at Georgia, there is no denying how impressive these stats are. But the stat that is the most impressive is that his 47 receptions are the most by a rookie tight end in NFL history through their first seven games.
Bowers has been a very steady player for the Raiders so far this season. He has four games this year with at least eight catches, including three straight games hitting that total. Bowers also has three games wehre he has eclipsed 90 receiving yards as well.
Unfortunately for Bowers is that this individual success has not led to team success. The Raiders have limped to a 2-5 record this season, with the playoffs already feeling well out of reach.
But regardless of the team success for the Raiders this season, it is awesome to see Bowers find immediate success in the NFL. This likely surprises no one, especially Georgia fans, but Bowers is showing that he has the potential to be the next great tight end in the NFL, and being able to witness his rise is going to be a treat.
