The NFL season has been done for only about two weeks now, and the offseason is already as wild as it usually is. A lot of the attention is on the upcoming NFL Combine and NFL Draft, but NFL free agency is also taking center stage as well.

Considering Georgia football has many former players in the league, every offseason there will be a handful of Bulldogs who are looking to make a move to a new team. But one player many thought would not be going anywhere is quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Stafford began his career in Detroit after being selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He went on to spend 12 seasons with the Lions where he set just about every passing record possible in their organization. However, the one thing alluding him was a Super Bowl ring.

That however changed in a hurry after Stafford was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021 where they won the Super Bowl in his first season with the organization.

Stafford and the Rams have continued to have good years together since winning the Super Bowl, but they have failed to threaten winning another Super Bowl. And now that Stafford is nearing the end of his career, the Rams have announced that they are open to trading Stafford and even gave permission for Stafford's camp to talk to other organizations.

Where will Stafford end up?

It's unclear at this time where Stafford will end up for next season. Even though Stafford is getting older, he still clearly has the ability to lead a team in the NFL to a lot of success, so there will likely be a lot of teams interested in trading for him. This will especially be the case with teams who have a great team and are just missing a solid QB that can lead them to the playoffs.

There is a chance Stafford could stay in LA as he still has two more years on his contract, but that likely will not happen. Typically when a team openly states they are looking to trade a player that marks the end of their career with that team, so Stafford will likely not be with the Rams next season.

It probably does not matter where Stafford ends up, because he will likely lead his next team to a lot of success. So stay tuned because there will potentially be a lot of rumors surrounding which teams are interested in trading for Stafford.
