Four Georgia Bulldogs receive massive midseason honors
I love midseason awards and watchlists. Sure they don't mean all that much because the awards or honors handed out at the end of the year are more meaningful, but its still exciting to see which Georgia football players are having great seasons so far.
On Thursday, four different Bulldogs who are having great seasons received midseason honors.
Senior Bowl All Americans
Linebacker Jalon Walker, defense back Malaki Starks, and offensive lineman Dylan Fairchild are the three Georgia players who were named Midseason Senior Bowl All Americans.
Walker is off to a strong start this season at linebacker and had his best showing by far in Georgiaโs first game. It seems like ages ago at this point, but he was a big reason why Georgiaโ defense was able to dominate Clemsonโs offense. Walker racked up six tackles including 1.5 sacks to help get his season off to as strong of a start as possible.
Starks may be having an even better season statistically than Walker. He has accumulated at least six tackles in three straight games now for the Bulldogs which you almost never see from DBs. And who can forget his interception against Clemson to start the season?
Lastly, we have Fairchild who doesn't have stats we can discuss, but heโs been a force on the Bulldogsโ offensive line. He's become as reliable as you could hope from an offensive lineman which is just as important as the guys scoring touchdowns.
PFF All College Football team
Running back Trevor Etienne was arguably Georgiaโs best player in their 31-13 win over Auburn. PFF agrees with me there as Etienne was named the best back by PFF during week six.
Etienne rushed for 88 yards on 16 carries (5.5 yards per attempt) and was able to find the endzone twice. He was also active in the passing game by adding six receptions for 36 yards.
Georgia has a great chance at a special season if Etienne is able to keep this level of production up.
