Kirby Smart and his staff have made an interesting decision recently on the recruiting trail, one that is difficult to fully understand.

Earlier this week, Smart and his staff offered a new QB in the 2025 recruiting class in Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele. This is an interesting move because Georgia football already has one QB committed in their 2025 recruiting class in fellow four-star Ryan Montomery. And Montgomery is no slouch either as he is a current top 100 player according to the 247Sport Composite rankings.

But still, Smart and his staff decided to offer Sagapolutele. The question that we couldn't answer at the time was how interested Georgia's staff actually was in Sagapolutele, because an offer doesn't always mean the program has a lot of interest and are looking for a commitment.

However, on Wednesday On3 reported that Sagapolutele is "heavily considering" Georgia after earning this recent offer.

A couple things to note here. The first is that Sagapolutele having interest in Georgia still doesn't necessarilly mean that Smart and his staff would accept a commitment from him today. With Smart offering him this late in the cycle, it is likely that they do have at least some interest, but at this time it is impossible to confirm that.

Also worth considereing is that Sagapolutele has been committed to Cal since July. So clearly he has a long relationship with Cal compared to a very new and young relationship with Georgia.

And lastly, Georgia has to be careful with how they manage this news with their current QB committed to their class already. It is very uncommon to have two QBs in the same recruiting class, and Georgia heavily pursuing Sagapolutele could be a turn off for Montgomery. Montgomery hasn't showed any public indication that he is frustrated by this or thinking about decommitting from Georgia, but that possibility always exists.

So at this time, we don't really know much about how Georgia really feels about Sagapolutele. But one thing's for certain, there has to be at least a little mutual interest for Georgia to offer him this late in the cycle and for Sagapolutele to say he is already considering the Bulldogs.
