Georgia football fans have a lot of confidence heading into their Saturday night showdown against Alabama. The Bulldogs are undefeated and coming off a big road win at Tennessee, Gunner Stockton is playing at a much higher level than anyone expected, and Georgia finally gets to play Alabama at home.

All of these are great reasons for UGA to be hopeful as they take on the Crimson Tide. But a new reason emerged Friday night that should give Georgia fans even more hope. And that reason has to do with Alabama maybe not being as good as people thought after Florida State was upset by Virginia.

Florida State upset presents serious questions about Alabama

Alabama already has one loss this season to Florida State in their season opener. The Crimson Tide lost to the Seminoles by 14 on the road which at first looked like a terrible loss. But since that defeat Alabama has looked much stronger and Florida State had continued to play at a high level as well. This led college football fans to think that the Seminoles were just a very good team and that Alabama's loss to them wasn't so bad.

That changed on Friday night though as Florida State lost to Virginia 46-38 in overtime.

Virginia might be one of the last schools someone thinks of when they think about ACC football, so this loss was about as bad as it gets for. This loss shows that the Seminoles might not be as great as everyone thought. And if that is the case, then maybe Alabama isn't as good either.

The transitive property rarely works in sports, but it feels like this is a sign that the Crimson Tide aren't as strong as a team as people think. This loss from Florida State makes it feel like Georgia should be favored by much more than 2.5 points against the Tide.

Regardless of how Georgia fans view Friday night's upset, UGA is going to need to be ready for a battle against Alabama. The Crimson Tide want nothing more than to beat Georgia between the hedges, and even though Florida State lost on Friday this Alabama team has the ability to beat UGA.
