All offseason a war has been waging between the Big Ten and SEC. The northerners believe they finally reign supreme after winning three national championships in a row, but three years is such an arbitrary number, who not go back further?
If they did that then they'd have to go all the way back to 2014 to find their next national champion. And between 2014 and 2023 you will find multiple championships for both Georgia and Alabama with an LSU title sprinkled in there as well.
So as much as the Big Ten thinks they're on the SEC's level, they still have some catching up to do. That is especially the case at the top of the Big Ten because both Georgia and Alabama are still much better than any of the big dogs in the Big Ten.

Georgia and Alabama proved once again that they are better than the Big Ten
Georgia and Alabama are the cream of the crop. They not only win the most championships, but they dominate teams along the way.
No stat proves this more than the fact that they both have more wins against final AP Top 25 opponents in the last five years, and it isn't particularly close.
Georgia's win total is what everyone should be focused on though. They not only had the most wins (23) but their win percentage (.766) is No. 1 on this list too. On top of that, Georgia beat more top 25 teams than any Big Ten team even played in the last five years.
So not only is Georgia playing the most difficult schedule, they are winning at the highest rate of every team in the country. Big Ten fans could argue that it isn't fair to be compared to Georgia because they get more opportunities to play top competition, but those complaints just further cement that the SEC is still the best conference.
Big Ten refuses to make their schedules as difficult as the SEC
Why does the SEC get more opportunities to play top 25 teams? It's simple, because the SEC is better than the Big Ten.
Over the past five years the SEC has only played eight conference games each season while the Big Ten has played nine. That should give the Big Ten an edge in competition, but the exact opposite is true because the SEC is that much ahead of the Big Ten. This difference is only going to increase now because the SEC will play nine conference games for the first time this season.
The Big Ten also doesn't require their teams to play a non-conference Power Four team each season while the SEC does. So SEC teams get to schedule a big out of conference game to add to their already difficult schedule while Big Ten teams like Indiana have zero Power Four non-conference opponents on their schedule through the 2032 season.
But congrats to the Big Ten, you deserve credit for winning the last three national championships. You however have a long way to go before you are truly as good as the SEC.
