The favorite NFL team for a majority of Georgia football fans will always be the Atlanta Falcons. However, this past season offered UGA fans a unique opportunity to cheer for a different NFL team as the Falcons once again failed to make the playoffs, something that hasn't been accomplished since 2017.
That team is the Philadelphia Eagles, and Georgia fans were more than happy to jump on their bandwagon as the Eagles had six Bulldogs on their roster this past season. So while UGA fans would love to see the Falcons win the Super Bowl, the Eagles were a good second option considering all of the former Bulldogs in their organization.
After the 2025 NFL Draft this weekend, it doesn't look like Georgia's support of Philly will be coming to an end as the Eagles drafted Georgia linebacker Smael Mondon Jr. in the fifth round. Most assume that this would cement Georgia as Philly's pseudo college football team, but there is another SEC team that has a similar claim as well.

Alabama has similar claim to the Philadelphia Eagles success
Georgia's three biggest rivals will always be Florida, Auburn and Georgia Tech, but Alabama is probably the team that is next in line. The Tide remain the only team in the entire country who keeps getting in Georgia's way as Kirby Smart's only win against the Tide came in the 2022 National Championship game.
So the fact that UGA still can't fully get past Alabama make the Tide Georgia's most hated team after their three traditional rivals. But the Eagles do present Georgia and Alabama fans a unique opportunity to find some common ground.
The details of the above social media post should be ignored because they have multiple players listed under the wrong team, but the overall message being shared is still valid. Both Georgia and Alabama have a lot of players on the Eagles, and both schools have an equal claim to the Eagles success this past season.
Now it's unlikely that this will eliminate any of the bad blood between these two schools on Saturdays in the fall, but the hatred shared between these two fanbases will be put on hold on Sundays as both fanbases would love to see Philadelphia continue to find a lot of success on the backs of their former players.
