The Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) landscape has changed drastically after the House vs NCAA settlement that went into effect July 1. In order to keep up and stay ahead of the rest of the country from a competitive standpoint, Georgia has announced a new partnership with how they will handle NIL opportunities for their student-athletes going forward.
This partnership is with Learfield, who will now be responsible for helping provide NIL opportunities for Georgia's student-athletes across all of their sports.
Below is a statement from Georgia Athletic Director Josh Brooks about this announcement.
"This partnership is a testament to our commitment to broad-based excellence and innovation," said Georgia Athletic Director Josh Brooks via 247sports.com. "Our student-athletes are already among the most competitive in the country. Now, they'll have the infrastructure and support to maximize their NIL potential while strengthening their connection with the Bulldog Nation and beyond."
Georgia is setup to be one of the top athletic departments of the future
Georgia is already home to one of the most successful athletic departments in the country. Everyone knows how great Georgia football is, but UGA is elite in many other sports as well. In fact, Georgia tied the school record during this past year by winning four different National Championships. These titles came in indoor and outdoor women's tennis, womens' track and field and equestrian.
On top of that success, Georgia's softball, baseball, football and men's basketball teams all found a lot of success this past season as well.
It's clear that Georgia has not skipped a beat since the NIL era began in college athletics. In fact things have only gotten better since NIL began, and this move by the University should help propel Georgia's athletes and teams to even more success both on and off the field.
