One thing that has been consistent during the Kirby Smart era at Georgia is his assistant coaches moving on and becoming head coaches at other programs. There is a chance this happens every offseason at UGA because of how successful the program is, so it's just a matter of when the next coach leaves Georgia and not if someone will.

And word on the streeet is that a current Georgia assistnat could be one of the top candidates for the Alabama job if it were to open up.

Glenn Schumann could be a future candidate for Alabama

Alabama's recent struggles has caused their fanbase to become very upset with head coach Kalen DeBoer just 14 games into his tenure. Those frustrations reached an all time high this weekend when Alabama shockingly lost to Florida State 31-17.

This loss caused some Alabama fans to argue that DeBoer should be fired if he doesn't turn this season around. And if that were to happen, who could be his replacement?

There is a long list of coaches that would love to take a crack at the Alabama job, but Georgia Defensive Coordinator Glenn Schumann was just given the second best odds to replace DeBoer as Alabama's next head coach.

It is worth mentioning that it is very unlikely for DeBoer to be fired this offseason if this season continues to go horribly for Alabama. If Alabama were to fire him after this season, his buyout would be nearly $60 million. So that fact alone would make it tough for Alabama to move off DeBoer anytime soon.

But Alabama has big donors, so if they become too frustrated with DeBoer they might be willing to pay this hefty price to try and bring winning football back to their program.

DeBoer holds a 9-5 record so far in his Alabama tenure, but in his last 10 games he is 5-5. And with the difficulties that an SEC schedule presents every season, that record could get even worse.

So if things do go south at Alabama, Schumann is reportedly a name to watch closely if this job does open up at the end of this season.
