There are a lot of reasons why a recruitment might be exciting to watch nowadays. Georgia football going after the top ranked players in the country or targeting a player with a connection to UGA are two reasons why Georgia fans might pay extra attention to a recruitment. However, one of the more exciting reasons is when Kirby Smart is attempting to flip a recruit who is committed to a rival.

And that is exactly what Smart and his staff are attempting to do on the recruiting trail with a player committed to Tennessee.

4-star DL Tyson Bacon

Tyson Bacon is a four-star defensive lineman from Hoover, AL. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Bacon is the No. 13 overall player from Alabama and the No. 35 defensive linamen in the 2026 class. He also is the No. 257 overall player in the country.

Bacon has been committed to Tennessee since Oct. 21 of last year, but it appears that Georgia is looking to change that and flip him to Georgia's class. UGA will clearly have a lot of work to do to accomplish that, but 247Sports reported that Bacon will be taking an official visit to Athens on May 16.

Not only is Georgia attempting to flip Bacon, but Florida, Alabama and Washington are as well as they will also be bringing Bacon in on an official visit this summer. This will make Georgia's recruitment of Bacon more difficult, but it also shows that he may be more willing to back off his commitment to Tennessee than most people originally thought.

Tennessee has been a solid program for a few years now, so that likely is attractive to Bacon. But Georgia has been more than dominant against the Vols as they now have won the last eight meetings. Sure there is a lot more that goes into a recruitment than wins and losses, but this fact does give Georgia an edge over Tennessee.

Time will tell if Georgia is able to flip Bacon or not, but hopefully Smart and his staff will be able to do that not only to add another great player to their recruiting class, but to also steal them from one of their biggest competitors in the SEC.
