Georgia baseball adds strong two-way player to already elite transfer portal class

Georgia baseball is trying to make sure they don't have a repeat of what happened in the postseason this past year in the future by bringing in a strong transfer portal class.

The Georgia Bulldogs baseball season did not end in any way they thought it ever would this past season. The Bulldogs were eliminated in the Regional round when they hosted in Athens. It was expected that Georgia was going to make it to the Super Regionals and maybe even the College World Series, but instead, the season ended way sooner than many thought it would.

In order to ensure that doesn't happen again, Georgia has worked hard to put together a great transfer portal class, and their latest addition is a big one. The Bulldogs added two-way player Bryce Calloway from New Orleans to that transfer portal class. Calloway is the 21st player to commit to the Bulldogs in the portal and was ranked as the No. 43 player in the portal.

In New Orleans, Calloway batted .390 with 18 home runs and 63 RBIs last season. From the plate, Calloway had a .484 on-base percentage, a .411 slugging percentage, and a 1.206 OPS. On the mound, Calloway had a 4.26 ERA in 20 appearances over 25.1 innings pitched. He also tallied 23 strikeouts and only walked 11 batters.

Georgia is quietly putting together an elite transfer portal class

Calloway is not the only player from New Orleans to now become a Bulldog, as Georgia also brought in pitcher Grant Edwards from the portal earlier this offseason. However, while Calloway is pretty good on the mound, he can also give some help in the outfield with the loss of Ryland Zaborowski, Nolan McCarthy, Devin Obee, and other key players to Georgia's squad last season.

With 21 players out of the portal, Georgia has the No. 2 transfer portal class in the country, which will be a big help towards ensuring they don't have a repeat of what happened this past season.
