How about we celebrate some exciting Georgia basketball news? While all of our attention is on the football program as they hit the halfway point of their regular season the Bulldogs and head basketball coach Mike White have come through with a massive commitment in the 2025 class.
Kareem Stagg has announced on Tuesday that he has committed to Georgia. He is the second recruit to join the Bulldogs' 2025 class and will bring an elite skillset to Athens in the post.
According to 247Sports, Stagg is a four-star center and the No. 72 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 9 center and the No. 15 player from his home state of Florida as well.
Stagg is the definition of a two-way player who has a high motor at all times on the court. He has shown a vast improvement in his face-up game on offense while also adding a lot of strength to his body recently to help him defensively. The stat that I love the most is that Stagg averaged 1.8 blocks per game this EYBL season. I don't know about you but that is exactly what any team needs down low on defense.
247Sports Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein said it best when describing Stagg's recent improvement by saying "Stagg's rate of improvement over the last year has been off the charts."
Georgia's 2025 recruiting class
As I mentioned Stagg is the second member of the Bulldog's 2025 recruiting class as he joins four-star forward Jacob Wilkins. Wilkins and Stagg on their own are good enough to put the Bulldogs at No. 13 in the country and No. 5 in the SEC in the 2025 team recruiting rankings.
This so far is about as a good of a start as we could hope for a Georgia team fresh off an NIT final four trip last season. Sure these guys won't be on the team this season, but the tides are turning in the basketball program and all signs point to a very bright future in the years to come.
