As the old saying goes, it is better to show up late than never at all. And boy, did the Georgia Bulldogs ever show up. Last week, Georgia basketball experienced one of its better, if not best, weeks of their season.
Georgia opened its week by sending shockwaves through all of college basketball with a Tuesday night thriller in Athens after their 88-83 upset victory over No. 3 Florida. The Dawgs then finished their week in dominating fashion with an impressive 83-67 road performance Saturday night in Austin, TX against the Texas Longhorns.
For Mike White and his Georgia Bulldogs squad, their recent resurgence has garnered them some well-deserved recognition as White and Georgia sophomore guard Silas Demary Jr. were respectively honored as the Dick Vitale National Coach of the Week and SEC Player of the Week.

This is the second time this season White has earned the Dick Vitale Coach of the Week honor. He last won it back in January when the Dawgs beat two ranked opponents, No. 6 Kentucky (January 7th) and No. 17 Oklahoma (January 11th), in the same week.
For Demary, this is his first player of the week honor this season after a performance that saw him average 23.5 points per game, 57.7 percent from the field and an astounding 58.4 percent from three-point land. Demary began his phenomenal week with a 21 point, three rebound, three assist and two steal effort against No. 3 Florida, only to be followed with a career high 26 point, four rebound, one assist and two steal road game against the Texas Longhorns.
What's Next for Georgia?
Georgia returns to action Tuesday night to take on the feisty South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia, SC. A win in this game would all but cement Georgia's place in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in a decade.
