As college basketball nears the middle of conference schedules, faint rumblings of the impending NCAA tournament start to reverberate through the dials of sports talk radio and podcasts everywhere. Traditionally for Georgia basketball fans, the idea of concerning yourself with such chatter has never been very appealing. Why should it? Georgia has not made the NCAA tournament in almost ten years.
Mike White and his Georgia Bulldogs squad however are hoping to buck that trend in 2025. And while things were looking very promising just a few weeks ago, bad losses like Wednesday night’s 68-65 defeat to the Arkansas Razorbacks do not help their cause.
Georgia basketball still has hope
However, all is not lost. It does appear that even in the wake of last night’s result, FanDuel Sportsbook still seems to believe that Georgia will make the NCAA tournament’s field of 68 in March, giving them odds of -440. For those of you that aren't sports gamblers, those are very good odds.
The 68-team field will be announced on Selection Sunday, March 16, with the First Four being played Tuesday, March 18 and Wednesday, March 19. Below is the remaining schedule for the NCAA Tournament.
- First round: March 20 and 21
- Second round: March 22 and 23
- Sweet 16: March 27 and 28
- Elite Eight: March 29 and 30
- Final Four: April 5
- Championship game: April 7
The 2025 NCAA men's basketball championship game will be played April 7 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. While it would be nice to see Georgia make it that far, likely most Georgia fans would be just fine with seeing the team make the tournament this season. But if they are going to accomplish that goal, they need to get their season back on track. And that begins this Saturday when they travel to Florida to take on the No. 5 Gators.
