Georgia basketball is off to one of their best starts in program history after finishing non-conference play at 12-1. However, the Bulldogs are yet to earn the respect from the country as they are still not ranked in the AP Poll.
But Mike White and Georgia have every chance to prove they belong in the top 25 as the SEC has proven to be the best conference in the country so far this season. Out of Georgia's nine games during the month of January, eight of them come against teams currently ranked in the AP Poll's top 25. That gauntlet begins Saturday as the Bulldogs travel to Ole Miss who is the No. 24 team in the country.
While playing any ranked team on the road is intimidating, beginning this difficult stretch against Ole Miss is a lot more favorable compared to other teams Georgia could have drawn. This is especially true because UGA has a very dominant history against the Rebels in their all time series history.
Georgia dominates Ole Miss all time
Saturday's game against the Rebels marks the 126th meeting between these SEC foes. And in the first 125 meetings, Georgia holds a substantial 78-47 all time record.
This includes a victory in the last meeting between these teams when Georgia beat Ole Miss at home last March 69-66. Georgia was led by five Bulldogs who all finished in double figures in this game.
Can Georgia stay hot and get their SEC season started off on the right foot? It by no means will be easy to win this game, but with six straight top 25 matchups following this game it would be a good idea for Georgia to star the conference season off with a win. And if Georgia can do that, there is a great chance they will finally find themselves in the top 25 next week.
