Georgia football had a lot of big visitors on campus this past weekend. Unfortunately UGA did lose the game on the field, but that didn’t take away from the experience a lot of these recruits had.
One recruit in particular who really enjoyed his time is four-star linebacker Taven Epps. In fact, a report from Rivals’ Jed May shows that Georgia is one of the top schools in his recruitment right now.
Taven Epps (@TavenEpps) has been committed to Texas since April. But a visit to Georgia for the Alabama game now has the Bulldogs “up there” for the 2027 four-star defender.

Georgia is making moves for a Texas LB commit
Epps is the No. 85 overall player in the country according to 247Sports. He also is the No. 5 linebacker in the 2027 recruiting class and the No. 7 player from his home state of California.
As mentioned, Epps was on campus this weekend to take in Georgia’s game against Alabama. On paper this may just seem like a normal visit, but his presence in Athens was a big deal because he has already committed to Texas. Epps announced his commitment to the Longhorns April 6, but it appears his recruitment is far from over.
Epps said a lot of nice things about Georgia after his visit this weekend. Not only did he say that Georgia is “up there” in his recruitment, but he also said that UGA “is different” as well. Now while this doesn’t mean he has Georgia above Texas in his recruitment now, it does show that he is still giving UGA a chance to win his recruitment in the long run.
Epps’ recruitment still has over a year to go, so there is no rush to get him to flip to Georgia. So make sure to keep tabs on Epps over the next year as he is someone who could flip to Georgia at some point in the future.
