Georgia being a well-oiled machine should terrify the rest of college football

Saturday afternoon was the perfect tune-up for Georgia heading into Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate.

Admittedly, there is a not a ton to glean from what the Georgia Bulldogs did vs. the Charlotte 49ers on Saturday afternoon. The No. 4 team in the nation was going to win by a lot, which it did. While some college football fans may not like the fact that Georgia did not cover and the under hit, it is what it is... However, there is something to be said about the manner that Georgia dominated Charlotte, 35-3.

This may end up being the worst team Georgia will play all season. That being said, Georgia decided to win without showing Georgia Tech, or really anyone for that matter, anything of note on offense or defense. Yes, it may have been so much fun to see Bo Walker get into the end zone three times, but this was just par for the course within the context of today's game. The big key is something else...

This once-young Georgia team has hit its stride in the second half of the season to become a well-oiled machined. Georgia will run the football at will on anyone, backing that up with some timely defense, too. Yes, Gunner Stockton did not throw a touchdown in this game to balance out his one interception. Frankly, he did not have to. He is as good as they come when it comes to the red zone.

We know how the pieces fit with this team. The anaconda approach to winning games is upon us.

Georgia is peaking at the right time with College Football Playoff up soon

Keep this in mind. Georgia Tech is going to have to show something to beat Pittsburgh on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets do not host the Panthers until Saturday evening. This will be a short week for both Georgia public schools of note. The Yellow Jackets will be playing for their right to get to the ACC Championship on Saturday night. Georgia will await its SEC title bout fate in about only a week or so.

See, Georgia may not even get to play in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in back-to-back weeks. If Alabama beats Auburn and Texas A&M beats Texas, it will be the Crimson Tide vs. the Aggies in Atlanta for all the SEC marbles. An 11-1 (7-1) Georgia team would get left out of the SEC Championship Game. One would think that the Dawgs would still stand a fantastic chance of potentially getting a first-round bye.

While there is very little to glean from Georgia's dominating win over Charlotte, we did see the Dawgs come together and play fully complementary football within the constructs of an incredibly winnable game. Those reps do matter. Cohesiveness might be this team's greatest strength. Since it allowed Charlotte to score and did not cover, as well as Stockton throwing a pick, there is work to be done...

For now, we may not see Georgia empty the chamber until the Dawgs are playing in the playoff now.
