Georgia Bulldogs can do the country a massive CFP favor against the Ole Miss Rebels

In a weird way, the general public might be more in favor of Georgia beating Ole Miss in the playoff.

And so we meet again... After the first round of the College Football Playoff, the No. 6 Ole Miss Rebels dominated the No. 11 Tulane Green Wave in their rematch from the regular season, 41-10. This was Pete Golding's first game as the Rebels head coach since taking over. While he is far easier to root for than his predecessor, he still has to take on a team he could not stop earlier this season in Georgia...

So it is only fitting that their former head coach Lane Kiffin, now at LSU, chimed on in their big victory.

"Congrats to all the coaches and players [at Ole Miss football], especially [Coach Pete Golding] and seeing his two boys on the sidelines. Great win. #1-0. #BeatGeorgiaInTheBoot."

It is hard to not sound sarcastic when you use the word "congrats" instead of "congratulations"...

Let's be totally honest with ourselves. For as long as Ole Miss stays in the College Football Playoff, Kiffin will be chirping to his heart's content over on X. Again, he chose to leave this great thing in Oxford behind for the shell of what LSU Tigers football used to be over in Baton Rouge. His departure could not have looked worse optically. For Georgia and everyone's sake, just end Ole Miss' season...

FanDuel Sportsbook has Georgia laying 7.5 points to Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl over in New Orleans.

Lane Kiffin chiming in to celebrate Ole Miss' big wins show he is tone-deaf

For as great of a moment it was to see Golding lead Ole Miss to its first playoff victory to date over Tulane on Saturday, the Rebels' biggest problem still remains. How do they stop Georgia on offense? Defense may be Golding's side of the ball, but every Georgia possession ended in points the last time the Rebels played UGA. Granted, that game was in Athens, but Georgia is a much improved team now.

Truth be told, Golding still has a strong staff to work with. However, not having Kiffin available to lean on will likely cost Ole Miss a shot at redemption in the Sugar Bowl vs. Georgia. This is the site where Georgia's season ended a year ago vs. Notre Dame. It was also the place where Gunner Stockton made his first career start in a Bulldogs uniform. So much has changed over the course of a year...

For now, the last thing the college football world wants is for Kiffin to be trolling Georgia after an Ole Miss victory he contributed no part to. He beat the Dawgs last year, but that game was in Oxford in a monsoon. Kiffin did not take care of business in Athens this year. In a way, it may have played a part in him leaving for LSU. Deep down, Kiffin always knew that he could never win a national title at Ole Miss.

Look for Georgia to not take its foot off the gas pedal for even one second vs. Ole Miss in this game.
