There's always a lot going on in Georgia athletics this time of the year. The end of the basketball season and NFL Draft talk always reigns supreme, and that was the case on Tuesday, March 4. But there was some more news down south in Miami from Georgia's former QB that's worth discussing as well.
So let's jump right in to three major storylines from March 4 that every UGA fan needs to know about.
Basketball makes it three straight wins
What a story Georgia men's basketball team has become. Everyone had written the Bulldogs off a week and a half ago, but then Georgia rattled off two wins against No. 3 Florida and Texas last week to save their season.
Fast forward to Tuesday night and Georgia got another road win against South Carolina, 74-63. UGA was led by reigning Player of the Week Silas Demary Jr. who tallied an impressive 16 point, eight rebound and four assist performance. Blue Cain added 14 points of his own and freshman sensation Asa Newell added 11.
This win likely guarantees Georgia's spot in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015. One more win would erase any doubt of missing out, but it's looking very likely that Georgia will be dancing this March no matter what happens the rest of the season.
Injuries are the worst
One of the two Bulldogs who chose to opt out of the NFL Combine this past weekend was linebacker Jalon Walker. It was initially unclear why he chose to do so, but word came out on Tuesday that he suffered a strained quad during a workout earlier this offseason.
This injury caused Walker to miss the Combine and will force him to also miss Georgia's Pro Day on March 14 as well.
There's no need to panic however because Walker does have a private workout scheduled one week before the NFL Draft that he will use to show scouts that he is healthy and worthy of their first round draft pick this year.
Georgia fans are after Carson Beck
Georgia fans will likely take every chance they get to make fun of Carson Beck this next year, and it's hard to blame them after he ditched UGA for Miami.
Beck has been in the news pretty often since he made his move south, and that was the case once again as he announced his new jersey number with the Hurricanes. Beck opted to get rid of the No. 15 which he wore at Georgia for No. 11 which will be his new number. This will be the first time any Miami QB has worn this number since Ken Dorsey, who led the Hurricanes to their last Naitonal Championship in 2001.
Georgia fans however took this opportunity to find a creative way to make fun of Beck by comparing his jersey number to the amount of interceptions he threw last season.
Carson Beck has chosen to wear the No. 11 at Miami (1 fewer than the 12 INTs he threw in 2024).
