Georgia football finally appears to be finding some momentum on the recruiting trail, but Friday marked a rough day for the Bulldogs on the baseball diamond.

However, before discussing what’s taking place in Athens, it’s impossible to not mention the biggest story in college football right now and how it’s impacting UGA.

SEC NIL rumor helps Georgia

The biggest storyline in all of college football right now surrounds Tennessee and their star quarterback Nico Iamaleava.

Long story short, Iamaleava is demanding to be paid more NIL money even though he is already making millions, and the Vols seem hesitant to do so. This standoff has now grown to the point where Iamaleava skipped Tennessee’s latest practice and is not communicating with the Tennessee coaching staff.

This news does impact Georgia because Tennessee figured to be one of the best SEC teams this season, and if negotiations don’t work out Iamaleava could decide to leave Tennessee. However, there is a great reminder for Georgia fans in all of this with how Kirby Smart runs NIL at Georgia. The Bulldogs have a lot of NIL money to spend, but they refuse to put all their eggs in one basket like Tennessee did. This helps create a better team and environment in the program, which so far has resulted in two National Championships in the NIL era.

4 recruits predicted to Georgia

Things are beginning to heat up on the recruiting trail for Georgia football as just this last week they were predicted to land four recruits. This includes four-star safety Kealan Jones, who some think will commit this weekend.

Four-stars PJ Dean (offensive line) and Malcolm Gaston (offensive tackle) as well as five-star tight end Mark Bowman were also predicted to end up committing to Georgia as well. None of these recruitments are over yet, but Georgia is officially trending in the right direction with them all.

Georgia baseball drops opener to No. 1 Arkansas

No. 7 Georgia baseball welcomed the No. 1 team in the country in Arkansas to Athens this weekend for a three game series. Game one was Friday night and things were looking great for UGA as they jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after two innings.

But Arkansas clawed their way back and ended up winning 13-3 after a 7-run inning in the top of the ninth.

These two teams play twice more this weekend, with Saturday’s first pitch scheduled for 4:00 pm. Georgia’s SEC title hopes are officially in trouble, and the only way they can be saved is if they win these final two games this weekend.
