Sunday, May 18 will go down as one of the best days for Georgia during the 2025 calendar year. One team pulled off a big upset and advanced in the NCAA Tournament while another won their third National Championship in program history.
So let’s dive right in, because there are a lot of reasons to celebrate.
Women’s tennis wins National Championship
Georgia women’s tennis fell one win short of winning a National Championship in 2024 as the Bulldogs fell to Texas A&M in the National Championship 4-1. That meant Georgia had one goal all season long, getting back to the National Championship and winning this year. And that’s exactly what they did on Sunday as they got their revenge against A&M by dominating the Aggies 4-0.

This marks the third National Championship in program history and the first since 2000. While winning a national title is amazing no matter how it’s done, sweeping the team that beat Georgia in the National Championship last season makes this title that much better.
Georgia softball advances to Super Regionals
The women’s tennis team obviously was the highlight of the weekend for Georgia, but the softball team had a major accomplishment as well. Georgia entered NCAA Tournament play without winning an SEC series this season, so instead of hosting Regionals they had to travel to 14-seed Duke.
UGA got the weekend underway with a 6-3 win over Coastal Carolina before knocking off the host Blue Devils for the first time 8-2. Since Regionals is a double elimination round, Georgia had to beat Duke one more time, but they lost the first game 8-1 on Sunday.
However, that didn’t discourage Georgia as they responded with a thrilling 5-2 extra innings victory in the winner take all game.

This is the third year in a row Georgia has advanced to the Super Regionals, and waiting for UGA are the Florida Gators. So Georgia fans better buckle up, because this is going to be one intense Super Regional with the winner of the best of three series heading to the College World Series.
New quarterback offer
Now that Georgia football has their quarterback in the 2026 class in five-star Jared Curtis, Kirby Smart and his staff can now turn their attention to the 2027 prospects. While there likely will be many quarterbacks Georgia shows some interest in, they just made a new offer to four-star Teddy Jarrard.
Jarrard is from Kennesaw, GA and is the No. 271 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 19 quarterback in the 2027 recruiting class and the No. 34 overall player from Georgia as well.
It remains to be seen who Georgia’s top QB target is in the 2027 class, but Jarrard is a name UGA fans will want to learn.
